Michael Jordan game memorabilia sold at auction for $8.5 million

Five items belonging to legendary basketball player Michael Jordan were sold at auction for more than $8.5 million, according to Sotheby’s auction house website.
The jersey of the 1996/97 championship season became the most expensive lot, for which they paid $4.68 million. A US flag signed by basketball players from the 1992 Olympics awards ceremony was sold for $1.8 million.
The 1988/99 season jersey and the 1998 playoff jersey were valued at $1.08 million and $840 thousand, respectively. Also, more than $130,000 was paid for signed sneakers and a T-shirt from Jordan’s time playing for the University of North Carolina in the early 1980s.
Jordan is a two-time Olympic champion and a six-time NBA champion.
Jordan was inducted into the Basketball Hall of Fame in 2009 and the FIBA Hall of Fame in 2015. The American retired from acting in 2003; he is now 61 years old.
