Russian basketball player Demin named Rookie of the Week in the Big 12 NCAA Conference
BYU Cougars (Brigham Young University) point guard Egor Demin was named the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Big 12 Conference Rookie of the Week.
Demin became the first BYU Cougars men’s basketball player to receive the Big 12 weekly award.
The 18-year-old Russian averaged 19.0 points and 9.0 assists per game in two NCAA wins this season. Against Central Arkansas, Demin grabbed 11 rebounds, the most in BYU Cougars history among a freshman in his debut game.
Kansas’ Zeke Mayo also received Rookie of the Week honors.
Demin is a graduate of the Moscow Basketball Academy and Real Madrid.
