Kevin Young, coach of the Brigham Young University (BYU) team, for which Russian basketball player Yegor Demin plays in the NCAA, said that about 90 scouts and executives of National Basketball Association (NBA) clubs came to the team’s games.
In November 2024, 18-year-old Demin was named the best newcomer of the week in the Big 12 NCAA Conference twice in a row.
“I’m certainly not a draft expert, but I’ve followed them closely for many years, been part of the process, and obviously know a lot of people in the NBA. I think he’s off to a good start. 80-90 NBA scouts and executives came to our practices and games. So, you know, he’ll have every opportunity to show what he can do.
Our style of play gives him the opportunity to showcase his strengths. So we’ll see. I think he still has something to prove. But he has already managed to strengthen his chances compared to what he had before the start of the season.
And, you know, it will be interesting for me to watch all this. But he’s really focused on helping us win games, and the rest will take care of itself,” Young was quoted as saying by Championship.
