Russian defender Alexey Shved was excluded from the Chinese Basketball Association (CBA) Shanxi Lungs team, according to the team’s application on the league’s website.
His place in the club’s lineup was taken by Senegalese Ibrahima Fall Faye, who had recovered from injury.
The CBA does not limit clubs on the number of foreigners under contract, but there can only be four in an active application. Shanxi have Harry Giles, Hamidou Diallo, Brandon Goodwin and Fall Faye.
The 35-year-old Swede scored 6.4 points, 2.4 rebounds and 4.4 assists in 11.5 minutes on average in 5 matches of the Chinese championship this season.
Last season, the Russian averaged 15.9 points, 5.8 rebounds, 9.1 assists, made 10 triple-doubles, 14 double-doubles and entered the top 3 of the Chinese championship in assists.
