UNICS President Bogachev on Timma’s death: “It’s a shame, young guy. I was chasing some dream. Cherche la femme”
UNICS President Evgeny Bogachev, in a conversation with a Match TV correspondent, expressed condolences to the family and friends of the tragically deceased basketball player Janis Timma, noting that he was a wonderful player.
The body of a 32-year-old basketball player was discovered on the night of December 17 in the entrance of a five-story building in the center of Moscow. According to preliminary data, he committed suicide.
— My condolences to your family and friends. Such a young guy, it’s a shame… He was a wonderful, very strong player. He played with us for literally a month. He had his own affairs there, he had family issues, he was married to the singer. Because of family issues, he played so little with us. He told us to let him go.
As the song says, love will come unexpectedly… It’s a pity. As they say, cherche la femme. God forbid. I feel very sorry for him. I was chasing some kind of… dream,” Bogachev told Match TV.
On December 9, Timma officially divorced singer Anna Sedokova. They were married for four years and had no children together.
Iannis’s last professional club was the Spanish Obradoiro, for which the player played in the second half of the 2023/24 season. In Russia, Timma also played for Zenit St. Petersburg and Khimki.
