The founder and former head coach of the Khimki basketball club, Sergei Elevich, told Match TV that it was difficult for him to believe in the death of the former forward of the Moscow Region team, Janis Timma.
On the night of December 17, Timma was found dead in the entrance of a five-story building in the center of Moscow. According to preliminary data, he committed suicide.
— Janis was a good, sociable guy and a wonderful player. And in general he was very cheerful. I can’t imagine how it all happened. It’s still very difficult for me to believe that he’s gone,” Elevich told Match TV.
On December 9, Timma officially divorced singer Anna Sedokova. They were married for four years and had no children together.
Iannis’s last professional club was the Spanish Obradoiro, for which the player played in the second half of the 2023/24 season. In Russia, Timma also played for Zenit St. Petersburg and UNICS.
