The VTB United League regular championship match between St. Petersburg Zenit and Kazan UNICS on December 18 will begin with a minute of silence in memory of basketball player Janis Timme, who died on Tuesday.
The meeting between Zenit and UNICS will take place on Wednesday in St. Petersburg and will begin at 19:30 (Moscow time). Timma previously played for these teams.
The body of a 32-year-old basketball player was discovered on the night of December 17 in the entrance of a five-story building in the center of Moscow. According to preliminary data, he committed suicide.
Timma’s last professional club was the Spanish Obradoiro, for which the player played in the second half of the 2023/24 season. In Russia, Timma also defended the colors of Khimki near Moscow.
