“Astana” wants to take “holidays” in the Unified VTB League for the next season, Kushchenko said

The President of the United League of VTB Sergey Kushchenko said that the Kazakhstan basketball club Astana plans to miss the next drawing of the tournament.

The team completed the regular championship in the last, 12th place, having won only two victories in 44 matches.

– Is there already an updated format of the next season?

– There is no updated format yet, this issue will be discussed with clubs on the League Council. And the adoption of the format will be there, in mid -June, after the end of the championship. Of course, we have previously resolved some issues.

For example, it is known that “Astana”, due to some legislative initiatives in Kazakhstan, will not be able to play legionnaires. And they want to take – we call it “holidays”. In the next season, their U21 team will perform in the Unified Youth League of VTB, and we will think how to return their main team in a year. Because they have been playing with us for a long time, they want to continue, and we also want it.

– Will there be new participants?

– We, as it happens traditionally, now process the applications received, we look so that there are no failures on finances and in other aspects.
