A 33 -year -old Italian basketball player found oncological blood disease
The Italian basketball player Virtus Aquille Polonar was diagnosed with myeloid leukemia, the press service of the team from Bologna reports.
Earlier, the basketball player underwent the operation to remove the testicles of the testicle, after which he returned to the sport.
– Aquille Polonar underwent an additional specialized medical examination, according to the results of which he was diagnosed with myeloid leukemia. Currently, Polonar was hospitalized in a hospital in Bologna, where he had already begun to carry out special therapy. The whole family of Virtus supports Aesille and his loved ones and wishes him a speedy recovery, the press service said in a statement.
Myeloid leukemia is a malignant tumor in which the growth of normal blood cells is suppressed.
Polonar is 33 years old. Since 2023, he has played for Virtus. Earlier, the basketball player represented a number of clubs, including the Spanish Baskonia, the Turkish Fenerbahche and Anadolu Ephesus, as well as the Lithuanian “Zhalgiris”.
As part of the Italian youth team (players under 20 years old), Polnara won the silver medal of the European Championship.
