Brizuela: “We are introducing young people. This is important.”
Spanish basketball team player Darío Brizuela faced the Eurobasket on Wednesday, highlighting the importance of introducing the youngest players to the teamIt will be held in Latvia, Chiple, Finland and Poland from August 27th to September 14th.
After completing training at the Triangle de Oro Sports Centre in Madrid, the players said in a media statement that the team was focused on a conference in Malaga, where the preparatory tour for the European event begins, emphasizing that “everyone is healthy” and “with great desire.”
“We have two training sessions, little by little. We don’t have a lot of time, but we have time to do everything well,” Brizra said.
Having already built an integrated relationship with manager Sergio Scariolo since 2019, Brizuela said he has not yet had a “deep” conversation with the coach about his role in Eurobasket, but he trusts the songs they have developed.
Before Lorenzo Brown was lost, Brizuela did not rule out the possibility of taking on a fundamental role where necessary. “It’s not my most comfortable position, but this year has made me feel better than the rest of the year.
That was clear regarding the generational relief where teams cross after the departure of legendary figures such as Rudy Fernández and Sergio Llull.
Regarding whether Spain would like to be a favorite or cover in the next Eurobasket, the player said, “We are Spain. We know the weight this shirt has, and it’s a pride to put that pressure on.”
Brizuela also highlighted the unity of the group. “We play with 10 out of 15 people here. We have a similar culture. It just learns to play and compete quickly, and that’s why there’s Sergio.”
