Kirilenko – about comradely matches of the Russian team: “Iran and Egypt are good teams. We do not know our power yet “
The head of the Russian Federation of Basketball (RFB) Andrei Kirilenko in an interview with Match TV called the teams of Iran and Egypt with good rivals playing in the power manner.
The Russian team in basketball on July 28 and 30 in Khimki will hold friendly meetings with the Iran team and immediately after that will fly to Egypt for control matches with the national team of this country.
– What do you think about the strength of rivals in friendly games – the national teams of Iran and Egypt?
– First of all, we conduct these friendly matches so that the Russian male team will receive game practice. And it is very good that we have the opportunity to conduct them – a great gratitude for this to Sergey Monet and Vladimir Dyachka. This summer, both our national teams and all reserve have received a unique opportunity: together they will hold more than 30 games. And it’s great that in such a difficult time, all teams have a game practice.
As for the strength of the rivals, now everyone has learned to play basketball, and there are almost no weak teams left. We are glad that four meetings are coming to our male national team. Iran and Egypt are strong rivals who play in a power manner. We do not know our power now: the national team held the last matches last year. And the composition has changed. It will be interesting to see how we will look against the background of such opponents.
– Was it easy to bring Iran’s team to Moscow, given the international situation?
– It was not so hard. It was originally planned that the games will be held in Iran. However, due to hostilities in this country, it was urgent to change the schedule. There were certain difficulties, the terms turned out to be compressed, tried to do without problems. Now all the difficulties are left behind, ”Kirilenko said“ Match TV ”.
Russian national teams have been removed from international competitions since February 2022 because of the situation in Ukraine.
