The Moscow MBA club issued a statement on the situation with Daniil Kasatkin, in which it expressed hope for a speedy resolution of the incident with the detention of the basketball player in Paris.
In June, 26-year-old Kasatkin was arrested in France at the request of the United States in connection with suspicion of involvement in cybercrimes. He is suspected of participating in a hacker network engaged in extortion. The athlete does not admit his guilt. The basketball player was detained at the Paris airport, where he arrived with his fiancee.
— Since June 23, Daniil Kasatkin, who played an important role in the formation and development of our men’s team, remains in custody in the suburbs of Paris due to suspicion of alleged involvement in hacking activities.
IBA remains hopeful that this protracted incident will be resolved soon. For its part, the club provided a number of documents necessary for the legal proceedings, requested by the lawyer. We are ready to continue to contribute in every possible way to the defense of Daniel, including financially.
In addition, at the end of the process, MBA is waiting for him home and will make every effort to ensure that the player returns to the court as soon as possible as part of our team in the VTB United League.
On behalf of all representatives of the MBA system, we wish Dana, his family and loved ones strength and overcoming all difficulties,” the club’s statement says.
