2010 NBA Draft No. 1 overall pick Wall retired due to injuries
Five-time NBA All-Star John Wall has announced his retirement.
Wall, who turns 35 on September 6, last played in the league with the Los Angeles Clippers in the 2022-23 season. Due to knee injuries, he has played only 147 games since the start of the 2017/18 season.
“Every T-shirt I put on meant more than victories and statistics. “It symbolized something more,” Wall said in a video posted on social media.
The basketball player was selected by Washington with the first pick of the 2010 draft. He spent most of his career with the Wizards, and also played for Houston and the Clippers.
In total, Wall played 647 NBA games, averaging 18.7 points, 8.9 assists, 4.2 rebounds and 1.7 steals per game.
