Egor helped Brooklyn win and reached a milestone in his career.

Russian basketball player Egor Demin is becoming more and more comfortable in the NBA. The talented debutant helped Brooklyn to a sensational victory over the most titled club in the league, converting an important shot at a difficult moment.

Helped turn the game around

In the summer of 2025, Demin was selected by the Nets with the eighth pick in the NBA draft – higher than most experts predicted. The club had high hopes for the promising point guard, but he still had to win his place on the floor.

For the away game against Boston, Egor turned into a player in the starting five. The coaching staff trusts the Russian more and more, praising him at every opportunity, despite the lack of team results. Brooklyn could boast only two victories in 14 matches, which were won over other outsiders.

It is not surprising that in the game against the Celtics the visitors were considered clear underdogs. The most titled NBA club, which became the champion two seasons ago, should have won in all scenarios. At first it was like that. The hosts spent the first quarter confidently, going into a short break with the score 28:22.

In the second period, the Nets made two breakthroughs, which allowed the Brooklyn basketball players not only to take the lead, but also to make a foundation that helped them in the second half of the match – 62:53. Moreover, Demin had a hand in the second breakthrough, which happened at the end of the quarter. He made two accurate two-point shots in a short period.

“It got so quiet”

After the break, the Nets struggled to hold on to the winning lead, and did so well in the third quarter. But the decisive period could turn into drama for Brooklyn. The Celtics made a powerful breakthrough, reducing the gap to two points – 94:96. The Boston crowd frantically drove the hosts forward.

At this critical moment, 19-year-old Demin took over the game. Egor was not afraid to shoot from behind the arc and was right. A spectacular three-pointer plunged the arena stands into deathly silence. The Boston players also broke down psychologically; they could no longer get closer to their opponents, suffering a sensational defeat with a score of 105:113.

– It became so quiet. I didn’t feel the energy in the stands in this game because we weren’t playing at home. But this match means a lot to me – to be here in the legendary arena. It was nice to hit the opponents’ hoop at the end of the game with such a crowd of spectators,” Demin spoke about his emotions after the decisive shot in an interview with YESNetwork.

This meeting became truly significant for Yegor. He scored the first hundred points in the NBA, and also repeated personal records in several indicators at once. For the second time in his career, Demin made six rebounds in a match. He also repeated his own achievement in the number of field goals made – five. Egor also scored one blocked shot, of which there were only three in his NBA career. There was also room for a new record: the coaching staff entrusted him with the longest playing time – 29 minutes 29 seconds.

Participation in the playoffs for Brooklyn this season is the dream of the most devoted fans from the realm of unrealistic fantasy. Therefore, it is important for Yegor to gain experience this season in order to gain a foothold in the Nets for many years to come. He has everything he needs for this.
