Serbian basketball club Partizan has rejected head coach Zeljko Obradovic’s request to resign, according to a statement on the Belgrade team’s official website.
On Wednesday, November 26, Obradovic officially announced his departure from the Serbian club. Partizan suffered nine defeats in 13 matches of the current Euroleague season and ranks 18th in the regular season standings.
On November 27, an emergency meeting of the executive board of the Belgrade club was held, at which the head coach’s statement was discussed.
“The Executive Board, at the proposal of President Ostoja Mijajlovic, unanimously decided not to agree with the resignation of Zeljko Obradovic and to provide him with unconditional support with the wish to remain as head coach and take the necessary steps that will lead to an improvement in the results of the Black and Whites.” Following this decision, the club contacted Zeljko Obradovic and asked him to reconsider his resignation, refuse it and continue his work, Partizan said in a statement.
The 65-year-old Serbian specialist has been heading the Belgrade club since 2021, and previously worked with Partizan in 1991-1993. Together with the “black and white”, the coach won the championship twice and the Serbian Cup once, took the Adriatic League title twice and won the Euroleague once.
