FIBA extended the suspension of Russian national teams and clubs from international competitions
The Central Council of the International Basketball Federation (FIBA) has extended the suspension of Russian and Belarusian national teams and clubs from international competitions.
“The Central Council decided to maintain the current status of Russia and Belarus until the meeting of the FIBA Executive Committee in mid-February 2026, which will take place after the IOC session in Milan – Cortina d’Ampezzo,” FIBA said in a statement.
In 2022, FIBA suspended the national teams of Russia and Belarus from participating in competitions under the auspices of the organization. The ban on teams participating in competitions also applies at the club level.
