Jordi Fernandez’s Nets pick up another win over Raptors
This Sunday, Jordi Fernandez’s Brooklyn Nets defeated the Toronto Raptors 96-81, halting a comeback from their rivals, with Michael Porter Jr. scoring 24 points and grabbing 11 rebounds.
It was the fifth win in the past eight games for the Nets, who started the season as one of the worst teams in the East and in the league.
This Sunday, after the Nets (8-19) dominated by +15 points in the third quarter, the Raptors (17-13) came back in the final period to take the lead. Brooklyn fought back with a final score of 24-8.
“We knew how to react when the game got complicated. We didn’t start well in the last quarter, but we kept our composure and fought until the end. We won three out of four quarters and it was very positive to play against a high-level opponent,” Fernandes said at the post-match press conference.
“It was a united effort. Everyone contributed in the last quarter by defending, making good decisions and making the winning play,” Badalona added.
Fernandes also highlighted the level of defense the team has shown in recent days.
“We weren’t too bad at the beginning of the season, but we’ve evolved, we’ve made adjustments and now we feel like we’ve found a good rhythm. We’re building a defensive identity,” he asserted.
In addition to Porter Jr.’s double-double, Noah Clowney contributed 19 points and nine rebounds, and Russian rookie Egor Demin scored 16 points.
For the Raptors, Immanuel Quickley had 17 points and 10 assists, and Brandon Ingram had 19 points.
