SCHIGLINSKY: “There will be no easy matches in this bubble”

Head coach of BC Zaporozhye Dmitry Shchiglinsky He evaluated the team’s preparations for the first matches of the Super League in 2026 as follows:

“A tough home bubble awaits us, strong rivals will arrive – Prykarpattya-Hoverla and Stary Lutsk. Preparations were carried out as usual, the children took a few days off for the holiday, and then we completely restarted the training process.”

We recently faced Hoverla in the Ukrainian Cup and unfortunately we lost then. This is a well-coordinated team that practices competent basketball. You need to be as focused as possible against them because such an opponent is ready to punish any mistake in defense.

The second match will be played against “Old Lutsk”. In the last matches against Kiev-Basket in the Championship and Dnepr in the Cup, this team showed that, after the arrival of foreign players and the change of coach, they have significantly restructured their game, especially in defense. It is clear that, despite the defeats, “Old Lutsk” has seriously improved. They now have a balanced squad, American players can take over the game, and there are individually strong Ukrainians. Therefore, there will be no easy matches in this bubble; “We’re going to have some really tough fights.”
