Euroleague match between Real Madrid and Maccabi Tel Aviv Just like this Tuesday’s Barça vs. Maccabi, next Thursday, January 8th, at the Movistar Arena in Madrid. The event will be held without spectators “for safety reasons” and follow the recommendations of the National Police.
This was announced this Monday by Francisco Martín, the government representative in Madrid.after holding a meeting attended by the Provincial Civil Safety Brigade, Provincial Intelligence Brigade, UIP, Madrid Police, SAMUR, firefighters and riot police of the Madrid City Council, as well as Real Madrid and Movistar Arena security personnel.
Mr Martin also acknowledged that there had been reports of “various concentrations” of rejection towards Israel. It said support for Palestine would take place around Movistar Arena on Thursday afternoon, and that there would be a “massive deployment” of national police, comparable to a high-stakes soccer match, to ensure both the match and the “right to demonstrate”.
