Alexander Tserkovny: “Moon fits perfectly into the Zenit system and mentality”
General Director of the Zenit basketball club Alexander Tserkovny told Match TV that American Xavier Moon fits perfectly into the system and mentality of the team.
The basketball player’s return was announced earlier on Thursday. The agreement with the player runs until the end of the 2026/27 season.
Moon left Zenit in August at the end of his contract. Last season, he played 24 games for Zenit and averaged 13.5 points, 5 assists and 4 rebounds per game. Together with the team, Moon won silver in the VTB United League. In January 2025, Moon suffered a right knee injury and was forced to miss the rest of the season.
“We have been planning Xavier’s return since he was injured. This player fits perfectly into our system and the mentality of the club. The timing of his return depended on the pace of his recovery and the availability of a situation in the team that allowed him to have a free option in his position. For now, we have settled on a contract until the end of the 2026/27 season, which will come into force after passing an in-depth medical examination,” Church told Match TV.
Zenit is in third place in the VTB United League standings.
