Veseli: “Madrid is a team that can score 10 points in two minutes”
Jan Vesely missed Barça’s last classic, when they stunned Real Madrid away 100-105, but has now fully recovered from the flu that caused him to miss several games. The Czech center is confident of defeating the whites again. “We’ve been preparing for the whole week and I think we’re ready,” he said before training at the Palau Blaugrana on Thursday. “Madrid are not easy rivals. They’ve beaten us here many times, but if we do well we can win again.”
The center believes the key to returning from Madrid with another triumph is to remain consistent from start to finish. “We have to concentrate for 40 minutes and follow the game plan. In the final clash against them, the team did not slow down throughout the match. Madrid are a team that can turn up 10 points in two minutes and that is why we have to be very concentrated,” he warns.
There will be a decisive player like Edie Tavares up front, but Vesely isn’t particularly worried about that. “Tavares is not alone. This is a team effort and there is no need to focus only on him,” he points out.
