Zenit captain Sergei Karasev spoke about the atmosphere in the team after changes in the coaching staff.

On Tuesday, Alexander Sekulic was suspended from his duties as head coach of Zenit. The team’s preparation for the match of the 22nd round of the regular season of the VTB United League against MBA-MAI was carried out under the leadership of Maxim Uchaikin, who will serve as interim head coach.

The MBA-MAI – Zenit match will take place on Wednesday in Moscow.

— How did you prepare for the match with MBA-MAI?

– It’s a difficult situation, of course. We must come together more than ever, one for all, and all for one. We are for the coach, and the coach is for us. We will give our all, play to the maximum. “We want to achieve victory,” Zenit’s press service quotes Karasev as saying.

Sekulic took charge of Zenit in June; the contract with the 47-year-old Slovenian specialist is for the 2025/26 season with the possibility of extension under the “1+1” scheme. Sekulic is also the head coach of the Slovenian national team.
