Reynolds’ double-double helped UNICS defeat Samara in the VTB United League match
Kazan UNICS beat Samara in the VTB United League regular season match.
The meeting in Samara ended with the guests winning with a score of 93:73 (20:26, 27:13, 24:17, 22:17).
For UNICS, Jalen Reynolds scored a double-double with 22 points and 11 rebounds. Alexey Shved has 12 points and six assists. For Samara, the most productive was Evgeniy Minchenko, who scored 20 points.
UNICS won the 20th match of the season and took first place, but CSKA has a game in hand. Samara (1–21) remains in last, 11th place.

OFFICIALLY. Coaches of Ukrainian women’s youth teams appointed
The Executive Committee of the Ukrainian Basketball Federation has approved the head coaches of the Ukrainian women’s youth teams for 2026.
The following names were appointed as head coaches of the young women’s teams:
Ukraine national team U-16 – Larisa Eshchenko
Ukraine national team U-18 – Ganna Shlikova
Ukraine national team U-20 – Evgeniy Murzin
Oksana Kirsanova-Staron was appointed head coach of the U-15 national team (girls born in 2011 and younger).
Ukraine U-20 women’s national team
Head Coach – Evgeny Murzin
Ukraine U-20 young women’s team will compete in the European Championship in Group B, which will be held in Samokov (Bulgaria) between 4-12 July.
Evgeniy Murzin is currently the president of the Ukrainian national women’s team.
He started his coaching career in the early 2000s, working for leading clubs in Ukraine and repeatedly leading men’s and women’s teams at national level. At the Men’s EuroBasket 2017, the Ukrainian national team led by Evgeniy Murzin reached the 1/8 finals.
Since 2021 she has been a member of the headquarters of the Ukrainian women’s national team and since 2023 she has been the head coach. He led the U-20 youth team (2022, 2025), U-18 youth team (2024) and U-16 star team (2023).
Achievements as a coach: Super League silver (2019), Super League bronze (2011), Ukrainian Cup finalist (2013).
Ukraine U-18 women’s national team
Head Coach – Ganna Shlikova
Ukrainian junior women’s team U-18 will play in the European Championship in Group B between 31 July and 9 August. The tournament will take place in Ploiesti or Tulcea (Romania).
Ganna Shlikova is the head coach of Khmelnitsky Youth Sports School No. 1, where she won the First League in the 2020/2021 season. 3 and is a teacher in the basketball department of BC “Khmelnitsky”. Currently the club plays in the First League of the Ukrainian Championship, where it is one of the leaders of the championship.
Shlikova has been on the coaching staff of the Ukrainian women’s youth teams (U-18 and U-20) since 2023 and joined the coaching staff of the Ukrainian national team in November 2025.
Ukraine U-16 women’s national team
Head Coach – Larisa Eshchenko
Ukraine U-16 women’s star team will organize the European Championship in Group B between 13-22 August. The location of the tournament will be determined later.
Larisa Eshchenko is an experienced coach with many years of experience in youth basketball. He worked with Irina Nagornaya in youth teams for many years.
Last year Larisa Eshchenko reached the EYBL Super Final with girls in this age group. He is also the current VYBL champion among girls born in 2010 as the head coach of the capital’s Youth Sports School-3-Baghira.

OFFICIALLY. Coaches of Ukrainian youth teams appointed for 2026
The Executive Board meeting of the Ukrainian Basketball Federation was held and the head coaches of Ukraine’s youth men’s teams who will serve in the summer of 2026 were approved.
The following men’s youth teams were appointed head coaches:
- Ukraine national team U-16 – Vladimir Reshetnik
- Ukraine national team U-18 – Oleg Shevchenko
- Ukraine national team U-20 – Dmitry Zabirchenko
Alexander Sabutsky became the acting head coach of the U-15 (boys born in 2011 and younger).
Ukraine men’s team U-20
Head Coach – Dmitry Zabirchenko
Dmitry Zabirchenko, who played in the Ukraine U-18 national team last year, will lead the U-20 men’s youth team in 2026. The team will compete in the Group B European Championship, which will be held in Bratislava (Slovakia) between 10-19 July.
Zabirchenko started his coaching career in 2017. He worked as the head coach of BC “Druzhkovka” (2017/18), BC “Ternopil” (2018-2022), BC “Budivelnyk” (2022-2023), and since 2023 he has been head of the BC “Kiev-Basket” team.
Achievements in his club career: Major League champion (2020), Super League champion (2023), Super League bronze medal (2024), Super League silver medal (2025).
He has significant experience in the Ukrainian national teams. He was on the coaching staff of the student team in 2017 and worked as an assistant in the U-20 youth team in 2019. As head coach, he led the U-18 (2021), U-20 (2023) and U-16 (2024) national teams.
In 2023, under his leadership, the Ukrainian U-20 youth team won the bronze medal at the European Championship in Group B.
Ukraine men’s team U-18
Head Coach – Oleg Shevchenko
Ukrainian youth men’s team U-18 will compete in the Group B European Championship, which will be held in Rijeka and Opatija (Croatia) between 27 July and 2 August.
Oleg Shevchenko started coaching at the YUG-Basket school in Odessa in 2006 and worked as a manager there for many years. Among his students is Rostislav Kabanov.
He joined the BIPA-Odessa technical staff in 2022 and then became the coach of the team he worked for in the Super League. He still continues his coaching activities in Spain.
In 2023, he took part in the technical staff of Dmitry Zabirchenko in the Ukraine U-20 youth team. He also works with Ukrainian youth teams in younger age categories.
In the summer of 2025, the Ukrainian U-16 student team led by Oleg Shevchenko took sixth place in Group B at the European Championship.
Ukraine men’s national team U-16
Head Coach – Vladimir Reshetnik
Ukraine U-16 men’s star team will participate in the European Championship in Group B on 6-15 August. The location of the tournament will be determined later.
Vladimir Reshetnik took his first steps into coaching in Shenzhen, China, where he worked for 4.5 years. After returning to Ukraine, he worked in the capital’s KSL and Kiev-Basket, and also coached the PushTeam team in the Major League.
As an assistant coach, he won a silver medal in the Women’s Ukrainian Cup and a silver medal in the Men’s Super League.
He has been training with the Ukrainian star team in this age category since last year, has held a number of training camps and participated in international tournaments.
