Kushchenko: “We are very glad that the United League match attracted the attention of such a socially significant competition as “You’re in the Game”
President of the VTB United Basketball League Sergei Kushchenko noted the importance of the All-Russian competition of sports projects “You’re in the Game” for the country.
On Wednesday, the Minister of Sports of the Russian Federation and Chairman of the Russian Olympic Committee, Mikhail Degtyarev, opened a new season of the “You’re in the Game” competition as part of the United League match between CSKA and Uralmash in Moscow.
— We are very glad that the United League match attracted the attention of such a socially significant competition as “You’re in the Game”! I hope that after this more and more basketball activities and projects from other sports will submit their applications. It is very important for us that this systemic project encourages a large number of Russians to play sports. After all, professional sports and the United League are focused on increasing the sports audience.
The President of the Russian Federation has set a very serious and ambitious task – by 2030, 70% of Russians should play sports. It’s not easy, but the “You’re in the Game” project sets the dynamics that will help achieve the successful completion of the task,” the league’s press service quotes Kushchenko.
“You’re in the Game” is a large-scale project that helps sports initiatives develop. We are glad that this competition came to basketball. We have many points of contact and a common goal – to attract as many Russians as possible to sports and promote a healthy lifestyle. I am very familiar with the “You’re in the Game” project, because I have been an expert in the competition for several years. I wish the large-scale project good luck and development,” added the league’s general director Ilona Korstin.
“You’re in the Game” is a competition implemented with the aim of developing mass sports and popularizing an active lifestyle. The autonomous non-profit organization “National Priorities”, with the support of the Ministry of Sports of the Russian Federation under the state program “Sport of Russia”, has been holding it in the country for the sixth year. The competition involves projects from all 89 regions of Russia; applications start on January 21 and end on March 31.
The sixth season features five main nominations: “Starting Point”, “Scale”, “Children in Sports”, “Transformation in Sports”, “Unlimited Possibilities”, as well as three nominations from the competition partners: “Corporate Sports”, “Sports Tourism”, “Media”. Semi-finalists and finalists undergo training in an accelerator from the Russian International Olympic University, work with experts and receive feedback.
Citizens of the Russian Federation over 18 years of age, legal entities, individual entrepreneurs implementing sports projects, including family ones, can participate in the competition. The winners will be awarded in June. The winners in the nominations will receive 500 thousand rubles, the Grand Prix winner will receive a million.
