Ataman angry at his players’ failure: ‘It’s unacceptable, we shot as a third division’
Anadolu Efes was defeated by Zenit for the fourth year in a row, with Ergin Ataman breaking out for his players’ percentages of 6m75 after the game ended.
Anadolu Efes is not doing well (yet) and you can tell. Last week, a three-pointer may have given her the win over Panathinaikos OPAP, but at the Sibur Arena, accuracy rates of 6m75 were an unresolved issue and brought Ergin Ataman trouble after the game’s finale.
“The whole game had important moments. Of the 25 three-point shots we got, we only got 4. This is unacceptable. It is unacceptable to have such percentages at this level. They are percentages for percentages of the third category‘ said the Turkish team’s coach, visibly irritated a few minutes after the final match with Zenit, before continuing:
“Then we fought, we tried to defend, we fought in the third ten minutes. But we gave easy hoops to Billy Baron and Dmitry Kulagin, they found free shots at the end of 24” and put them in. We lost everything. Vassilie Mitsic made seven mistakes, our point guard…“.
