Prometheus – Peristeri 82-77: Boss in the Quartet fight

Prometheus clinched the derby at “Dimitris Tofalos” and thanks to the 2/2 against Peristeri (82-77) already with the “Guten Morgen” of the start went into a position of power for a place in the second round Stoiximan Basket League foursome in the regular season.

Prometheus’s game against Peristeri had strong postseason characteristics (see passion, strong defense at the end, determination), with the hosts celebrating in the final (82-77). Thanks to two back-to-back threes from Central Ray (indirect) and Travis Simpson (direct), Elias Zourou’s team clinched victory and made it 2/2 against Milan Tomic in the Stoiximan Basket League.

A result that gives Prometheus a clear lead for the four, especially what Peristeri has to do as it has the upper hand in any tie between the two teams.

Great protagonist for the winners is Dimitris Agravanis, who finished the game with 26 points (with 9/12 shots and 6/12 shots) and 12 rebounds in 33’40” participation.

The race

Prometheus excelled early on, putting pressure on the defense and quickly reaching +10 (16-6 in 8′) with rebounds as his forte. However, within seconds, Peristeri recovered and returned to the game for good. The visitors found three consecutive threes in Steven Gray, Glen Kozi and Dimitris Moraitis and conceded the difference in shot (18-15) at the end of the first period.

This comeback changed the psychology of combat, and the Peristeri region continued the excellent work. Milan Tomic’s players reached +5 (29-34 in 17′), with Dimitris Agravanis providing a counterweight at the other end. Despite the full performance of its leader (12 points, 6 rebounds), Prometheus failed to change the overall picture of the game, with the first part ending at +1 (37-38) with Peristeri.

The match continued to be marked by intense alternations and emotion, with the hosts recovering in the third ten minutes. Thanks again to Dimitris Agravanis who did most of the work while Kentry Ray had a bad night and missed. The recipe did not change for Ilias Zouros’ team, who reached +11 (55-44 in 27 ‘) but did not calm down. Again with a peripheral shot, Peristeri closed in on the shot (58-55 in 31’), forcing Elias Zouros to turn his voices towards his players and make strong remarks to them.

The game was now a derby, with the hosts having a small lead but not feeling safe at all. The good thing for Prometheus, of course, was that Kendrick Ray broke the pomegranate and was along with Jeray Grant their team’s extra offensive solutions (64-57 in 32′). For the umpteenth time, however, Peristeri did not give up. On the contrary, thanks to successive points from Thomas Giello, he equalized (74-74) with 1’42”.

Six consecutive points from the hands of Kendrick Ray and Travis Simpson in seconds created Prometheus’ new lead that remained unchallenged until the final, with Elias Zouros’ team scoring another major victory for the Battle of Tetra.
