Niko-Basket’s new player: “I cannot say that I am afraid, but I am aware of the risks”
American defender of Niko-Basket Jamir Moultrie He explained why he decided to transfer to the club from Ukraine and explained his decision to come to a country where there is war:
“I had former Ukrainian-born teammates with whom I played in college in NCAA Division 1. They gave me an insight into the basketball culture here.
When Niko-Basket became interested in my resume, I thought it was a good opportunity and that I would come as a team and help them win and play in Ukraine for the first time.
I know nothing about the city of Nikolaev, but I know a lot about the war from the news shown in the USA. My coaches told me everything about the city and that helped me decide to come here and play.
I cannot say that I am afraid, but I am aware of the possible risks and take them into consideration. I know how serious the consequences can be.
Safety measures are in place for myself, the team and all support staff in case of an emergency. “I’m confident in this plan and I’m happy to be able to play basketball in such a great culture and environment.”
