BAGATSKIS: “I want to focus on the quality of what we prepare”

The Ukrainian team will play against Turkey, Poland and Slovenia in Istanbul.

“We have the opportunity to immediately compare ourselves with the well-equipped Turks with the Slovenes, who will probably be in the best squad, and of course the Poles are far from a gift. No team is a gift. All things considered, I will probably limit players at some points as no one is ready to play right now. The maximum is 20 minutes. Naturally, this will not be the case in official matches. But now we’re going to play the minutes, we’re going to limit the time, unharmed so there’s no injury.

I want to see teamwork and communication in these matches. Everything else will be fine. I don’t know what the result of the friendly matches will be, but the main thing is we do what we do in training, we polish it. I want to put more emphasis on the quality of what we are preparing,” said Bagatskis.

Super League. Confident victories of a hundred Dnieper, Kyiv-Basket and Krivbass

Four matches were played in the Super League on Sunday, January 18, as part of the regular season.

The matchday program was opened by Prykarpattya-Hoverla and Krivbass in Lutsk.

Krivbass took the lead at the beginning of the match and won the first quarter at 23:11. From that moment on, Evgeniy Isakov’s team did not relinquish the lead. Krivbass’ maximum advantage in this match reached 21 points.

Kryvbas had an advantage in terms of shooting percentage and rebounds. At the same time, the Krivoy Rog team suffered fewer losses and gained 16 points after the defeat of the opponent.

In Hoverla, the best player of the second match in a row was Ilya Kabatsyura with 25 points and 5 assists, while in Krivbass, Jaylen Dalcourt was the best player of the match with 18 points with 7 assists and 6 rebounds (PE 24).

“Krivbass” won its second match in two days and completed the weekend undefeated. “Hoverla” earned one victory in two matches in the 10th round.

“Dnepr” defeated “Rivne” with a personal performance record.

Dnepr started the match very aggressively both offensively and defensively. The Rivne team often did not know how to counter the opponent and scored only three goals in the match in the first quarter, losing 12:29 of the ten-minute period. Dnepr slowed down a bit in the second quarter, but continued to dominate the field and increased the advantage to 27 points at the big break (55:28).

In the second half of the match, Dnepr played for fun, they began to give Rovno more opportunities to attack, in the end the game was balanced, but the champion kept everything under control and brought the match to victory. As a result, Dnepr scored 100+ points for the first time this season and earned +28.

The best players of the Dnipro team were Sergei Zagreb with 21 points and Daniil Sypalo with 12 points, 9 rebounds and 7 assists.

Niko-Basket defeated Stary Lutsk at home.

At the beginning of the match, Nikolaev’s team took the lead – the maximum number reached 21 points at the beginning of the second quarter. Then the home team managed to get back into the game and even reduce the difference to 2 points, but Valentin Berestnev’s team retained the winning result. “Niko-Basket” made much better two-point shots than its opponents in this match and scored 10 more points in the fast break.

The best player for the winners was team leader Maxim Safonov, who scored 29 points, 4 rebounds and 3 assists (PE 29). This is Maxim’s best performance of the season and repeats his career high.

“Niko-Basket” defeated “Old Lutsk” for the second time this season and completed the tour with one win in two matches. The home team lost both home matches.

“Kiev-Basket” got its second consecutive victory at home in the match against “Zaporozhye”.

Unlike the Dnepr match, Dmitry Zabirchenko used Yaroslav Karyupka and Bohdan Malich on the field. However, from the first minutes, Artem Romanitsa showed his bright colors again: In the middle of the first quarter, the score was 11:3 in favor of the Kiev team and Romanitsa scored 9 points out of 11. Zaporozhye could not close this gap until the end of the quarter and the home team played against Klevzunik and Karpyuk as well as Romanitsa. The teams went to the first break with a score of 23:15 in favor of the current vice champions of Ukraine.

The second game period started with a mini-move of the Kiev team at 5:0: Malich’s three-pointer and another accurate shot by Klevzunik forced Zaporozhye to look for non-standard solutions. Matthews went above and beyond for the guests; scored a great dunk in this part of the game, but Kiev-Basket completely controlled the course of events on the field and entered the big break with a serious advantage: 48:34.

The third quarter was the least productive period of this match: The teams scored 21 points between themselves, but Zaporozhye failed to turn the game around. While Kiev-Basket started the last 10 minutes with a 15-point lead, Dmitry Zabirchenko gave the young players game training. Kolavole, Malich, Manuylyk took advantage of the opportunity and managed not to lose their team’s advantage. The final siren recorded the victory of “Kyiv-Basket” – 78:62.
