Mateusz Ponitka vetoed it and his brother was not invited to the Polish national team
Ruin for the Polish national team after Machel Ponitka said in an interview that his brother Mateusz Ponitka was responsible for not being invited to the team’s preparation for Eurobasket 2022 because the two don’t speak to each other.
There are various reasons why a player is not called up or is excluded from the preparation of his country’s national team. In the case of Marcel Ponitka from Zaragoza, the reason was his… brother.
The reason for Mateusz Ponitka, who according to his brother in an interview with the Polish website “sport.tvp.pl” had vetoed because the two had not spoken to each other for a long time.
“I was informed by the coach (ss, Igor Milicic) that Mateus does not accept me and cannot work with me for the success of the national team.” so characteristically Marcel Ponitka to add: “I don’t know the reasons why he doesn’t accept me (ss his brother) but obviously as a leader he’s influencing the calls and making his terms.”
In conclusion, Ponitka emphasized: “I don’t feel guilty about anything. I don’t understand why Mateus wants to downsize at all costs and get in the way of my career. I have nothing to hide If he has something with me, don’t bury your head in the sand, but let’s talk like men and don’t have half words.
Of course I can play with him, I’ve always spoken openly about the subject, the coaches of the national team and the association know that. I’m waiting for the promised meeting, which the team leader refuses. I expect Mateus to act like a pro and solve the problem.”
