Turkey 103-104 Slovenia: The epic battle of 6 NBAers was decided in overtime with terrible stats
Goran Dragic and Luka Doncic caused a stir in Istanbul, in the end Turkey countered and with 76 points from NBAers Korkmaz, Osman, Sengun touched victory, but a shot and a save decided the game.
It was the match of the evening. It was one of the best pre-season friendlies en route to qualifying for the 2023 World Cup and EuroBasket 2022. Turkey and Slovenia battled it out at Istanbul’s Sinan Erdem Dom, with the home side counterattacking in the fourth period to seal the game finish overtime to touch the win but lose it to a big three-pointer from Goran Dragic and a defense from Furkan Korkmaz.
Dragic (28 points, 9/15 2-pointers, 1/3 3-pointers, 7/8 shots, 5 rebounds, 3 assists) and Luka Doncic (23 points, 6/9 2-pointers, 2/7 3-pointers , 5/8 shots, 10 rebounds, 5 assists at 27:18, came out in the 34th minute and didn’t come back until the final) were great, their team didn’t shoot well from the perimeter but they got the result from those watching the game was left with the impression that they were playing idle for much of the game.
Cedi Osman (24 points, 6/7 2-pointers, 2/8 3-pointers, 6/8 shots, 3 rebounds, 4 assists), Furkan Korkmaz (33 points, 3/6 2-pointers, 5/11 3- Pointer, 12/14 shots, 7 rebounds, 4 assists) and Alperen Sengun (19 points, 9 rebounds) were the three standouts for Ergin Ataman’s team, which was able to rely on its three NBA players without Shane Larkin. The counterattack in the fourth third was really impressive, with Ataman having complaints from the referees at the end who certainly didn’t play against his side.
