Leonidas Kaselakis on Sportish: ‘Spanoulis’ perfectionism makes him push his limits and inspire others’

On Monday afternoon (10/3), Vassilis Spanoulis made his official coaching debut on the Peristeri bench as his team clinched an easy win over Bnei Herzeliya in the inaugural Basketball Champions League group.

The team’s leader, Leonidas Kaselakis, awarded Sportish for the premiere in Europe, the level of team readiness and the premiere of the championship against PAOK.

At the same time, the perfectionist Vassilis Spanoulis could not be missing, who pushes his limits every day, inspiring the players and helping them to improve in every training session.

“I wasn’t lucky enough to be his teammate, but I’ve met him many times.” He first said about Spanoulis. “The common element of the player and the coach Spanoulis is his perfectionism. For team readiness level: “We want to get better every day. We had some objective problems, I was with the national team until two weeks ago. We had a problem with the playmaker, who we had to replace due to a personal problem. Francisco came, which is excellent.

The team is very good for the time frame we are working on. Further improvements are required. The video we’re seeing does us a lot of good and we have a coach who’s with us but at the same time puts a lot of pressure on us. After all, Vassilis Spanoulis could not be otherwise. As a person he is like that. We like it and want to get better, it inspires us. At the end of the day, we want to celebrate because we’re doing something good.”

At the start of the league against PAOK: “The key will be energy and defense there too. When you have doubles it’s very important to keep them going. It’s a difficult game, it’s a first. PAOK are always a strong side and a force to be reckoned with I think if we play the basketball we know, if we look at the mistakes from our European game and improve them, we’ll be ready to win.

The important thing is to get the profits. There will be days when we play better, other days when we play worse. We have to learn to win and we’re well on our way to doing that.”

Whether there are goals in the team: “We don’t think about it, we watch the game against PAOK first, that’s the most important thing, and then we see what’s next.”
