AEK – Bonn 66-73: Second-half slump and defeat in Ano Liosia
AEK destroyed the impressive first half (the lead reached +17) and was injured by the all-round talent of TJ Shortz (26 points, 7 assists), who knew the home loss to Bonn.
AEK impressed in the first half, but broke down offensively after the break (misdecisions, missed shots) and gave Bonn a chance to come back. So much so that the German team found a way to claim victory in the closed game of Ano Liosion (73-66) and force the Union to their first home defeat of the year.
Janis Strelnieks (20 points) essentially bid in the first part (he left with an injury problem at 58”), while Tim Frazier (0/4 shooting, 12 assists) only bid in the creation part. Impressive in another basketball Champions League game for Bonn, TJ Shortz with 24 points (on 10/18 shooting and 1/2 field goals) and 7 assists.
In the group’s other game, Carcillaga beat Rezzo Emilia (83-76) at home.
Placement in Group B
- Karsiyaka 2-1
- Bonn 2:1
- AEK 1-2
- Rezzo Emilia 1-2
The race
AEK showed early on that it could handle the demands of the game and its offense was exemplary. The game was of course quite balanced in the first half (13:12 at 7′), before the hosts gradually established their rhythm. As; With the formation of Tim Frazier and the execution of Janis Strelnieks being the main reason for the +17 (29-12) of the 14th minute.
Of course Bonn didn’t throw in the towel. Everything else. He tried to increase the tension in defense and attack with even more consistency in the transition game, but he found AEK’s well-organized defense anyway, giving Ilias Kanzouris’ team a double-digit lead (36-23) by half-time, clinching he on 18.11. Had 2 pointers and 6 steals.
Unfortunately for AEK, the third quarter was diametrically opposed. For the worst. The attack proved dysfunctional, and the defense repeatedly exposed Ilias Kanzouris’ team. So much so that Bonn not only became more combative, but was able to finish this section with 6/9 twos, 5/10 trebles and 2/2 shots in the lead (46-52). As for the Union? With 2/12 shots into the boys and 7 penalties, she was now looking for ways to get back on her feet.
In the last half, AEK’s percentages on two-pointers and shots continued to disappoint, with Tim Frazier staying at “zero” until the end of the game. At the same time, TJ Shortz increased his performance minute by minute and even made some big baskets to defend the German lead and give Bonn the win.
THE REFEREES: Glisic-Yilmaz-Mategek.

BONN (Ties): Delaney 11 (1), Herrera 2, Morgan 14 (4/7 3-pointers, 6 rebounds), Shorts 26 (7/15 2-pointers, 3/3 3-pointers, 3/4 shots, 4 rebounds, 7 assists), Ward 3, Bangala, scratches 6 (3/8 2-pointers, 0/2 shots, 9 rebounds, 3 turnovers, 3 steals), Malcolm 4 (8 rebounds), Tada 3 (1/7 3 pointer), Williams 4 (1).

Bonn’s team statistics: 17/36 2-pointers, 10/26 3-pointers, 9/14 shots, 45 rebounds (33 defense + 12 offense), 13 assists, 19 turnovers, 8 steals.

In the past, Fraser of Prometheus asked to leave for personal reasons
A blow for Prometheus, because before two weeks had passed since the agreement with Tim Fraser, he had to terminate the contract of the American, who wanted to leave due to a family problem.
Tim Frazier’s second stint in the Stoiximan Basket League was short-lived after Prometheus announced the termination of his contract just 12 days after his acquisition.
As Patrini revealed, the American asked to leave for personal reasons, with Prometheus respecting his wishes.
Frazier managed to play in just one game with the Patriots – in the 68-71 loss to Dijon in the Basketball Champions League, where he had 8 points and 4 assists – with the only positive for Prometheus being no foreigner Stoiximan Basket League was substituted in the Basketball Champions League because he had not included him in his Greek squad.
The announcement in detail:
“KAE Prometheus Patras announces the amicable solution to its collaboration with Tim Frazier, respecting the exceptional family problem that has arisen for the American athlete. We thank him for his offer and wish him all the best for his career.”
