Tribute to Mimi Papaioannou ahead of the Galatasaray game when he was shown singing the AEK anthem
Thrills and shivers ahead of AEK’s game against Galatasaray for the Basketball Champions League, as moments before kick-off, an older VIDEO is seen of Mimis Papaioannou singing the “Union” anthem, with the whole stadium cheering the legend of the team sing and praise died the morning of the game.
Yesterday (March 15) was a day of mourning, a day of remembrance for AEK, because the news of Mimi Papaioannou’s death shook the “yellow-black” family. Therefore, before the game against Galatasaray (92:78 victory and entry into the quarterfinals of the Basketball Champions League), the “Union” honored the memory of the best footballer in his history in an ideal way.
Just before kick-off, the team’s legend from his previous appearance in a broadcast was shown on the stadium’s matrices, where he appeared to be singing the team’s anthem, with the whole stadium also singing in adoration, in a terribly moving spot. A minute’s silence was then observed and the game began.
