Hapoel Jerusalem on the incidents in Ano Liosia: “Terrorist attack against our fans”
Serious complaints from Hapoel Jerusalem after what happened in game with AEK. The Israelis spoke of a terrorist attack and promised to file a complaint with FIBA.
The people of Hapoel Jerusalem are furious on Wednesday evening (4/12) after what happened at Ano Liosion Stadium in the second game of the Basketball Champions League quarterfinal series against AEK. The Israelis claim their supporters were injured while speaking on their Twitter account of a terrorist attack suffered by their 500 supporters.
“Hapoel sees the events in Athens as a terrorist attack on Israeli fans who have flocked to support their team, as they have done for years. In the middle of the game we checked all the data, but their removal from the pitch was denied as the Greek fans surrounded them and there was a risk of a serious off-pitch attack.
A closure was also considered, but police warned that such a decision would lead to chaos and put lives at risk. Therefore, for security reasons, it was decided to continue the game. Hapoel loves and stands by the fans who have come to support the team in difficult circumstances and regrets the traumatic experience they have had to go through. The club will not remain silent and will file a serious complaint with FIBA“.
