Kaselakis: “Spanoulis has not done anything accidental in his life, he is a role model for the team”
Peristeri bwin captain Leonidas Kaselakis spoke about the goals of the 2023/24 season in the Basket League and Basketball Champions League and also mentioned his collaboration with Vassilis Spanoulis.
On Monday morning (February 10th) the Peristeri bwin Media Day for the 2023/24 season took place in the closed Andreas Papandreou. The captain of the team, Leonidas Kaselakis, emphasized that last year’s – particularly successful – year was a thing of the past, he referred to the goals of this year’s competition season, but also to Vassilis Spanoulis, the architect of this building.
Leonidas Kaselakis reported in detail:
“I wish you health. It is very important that everyone is healthy. We can’t wait to get the work done in the field. The team is new, but I think everyone will play a specific role. Since we are in an assimilation phase and working, I am very optimistic about what we will give to the world.
The final season is certain, say the Americans. Every day we must aim to become better. When you’re a new team, you have to do that. I’m not just saying it to say it, it’s a process we carry out. We watch VIDEO from training, from the game. We know our mistakes and try to fix them. We keep the good elements we have in our game. This is the only way you can become better and more competitive. The season is long, we have games in Greece and Europe, so we have to stay grounded because the games are frequent and there should be no complacency with wins and disappointment with defeats. The goal is to make progress from game to game.
Of course we want to reach the next level in the BCL. We like to play two games a week. The BCL is designed to have six finals at the beginning, which is not easy. Every mistake counts and costs money. Our goal this year is to follow a similar course to last year and definitely go one step further in Europe. I think we have more depth and athleticism this year.
We know that the trainer is very demanding and strict in some things, but this recipe works. We all have to get into this mold and be able to become a team without egos and absolute concentration in every training session and every game, because the coach is a man who doesn’t let a day go to waste. Obviously we all want to be successful, we are all together – one. He tells us this and tells us again. He is a man who has not done anything accidental in his life, so he is an example for the entire team so that we can achieve our goals.”
