Uproar over Hapoel Holon, AEK Betsson contacts BCL to prevent Israeli matches from taking place in Ano Liosia
Fearing a split in the world of AEK Betsson after the decision to host Hapoel Holon’s home games in Ano Liosia, the “Union” contacted the Basketball Champions League and demanded not to host the Israeli team’s games.
Date change for Hapoel Holon’s Basketball Champions League matches at Ano Liosion Stadium. AEK Betsson contacted the BCL and asked the organizer not to permanently host the Israeli team’s games in their stadium.
Fearing a split in the group’s world over the situation between Israel and Palestine, the “Union” has decided to push the specific issue and it now remains to be seen what decision will be made.
It should be recalled that a few days ago the BCL announced that Hapoel Holon’s home games would be played at Ano Liosia and that shortly afterwards AEK Betsson issued a statement which said, among other things: “eDue to the circumstances and the chaotic situation, we could only accept FIBA’s decision to host Hapoel Holon (without financial compensation) in our stadium with the consent of the EEC.
And lest we forget…
Friends, calm down and remember all the years we have done…
As far as we are concerned, during our term in office we have proven in practice that our main priority has been and remains the promotion of the superhuman values and ideals for which our historic Union, born of refugees, stands, but also the support of all who are there need, regardless of the price, without blinkers and without asterisks.“
However, EEC, for its part, immediately emphasized in its own announcement that the decision had been made by AEK Betsson and it simply gave the final OK, stating: “The The Israeli federation told the EEC that the teams agreed and officially asked for its own position.
We then asked AEK and they officially confirmed to us that they are in constant communication with Hapoel Holon and agree to the Israeli team’s participation in Ano Liosia. The EEC therefore gave the formal OK following everyone’s official assurances and, above all, the fact that AEK agreed.”
