The race
In Germany, there was a one-sided game between Ludwigsburg and AEK Betsson, with the two teams playing almost point-to-point for most of the game. The game didn’t have a particularly good pace as the score fluctuated at a low level. Platha’s team had a good evening with Fiodos Campengele dominating the ‘salon’ while Mindaugas Kuzminskas provided valuable goal solutions.
Javon Graves took the lead for Ludwigsburg, Riesen had a small lead in the second half. The Union didn’t start the fourth and final quarter well at all, as they found it difficult to connect to the basket in the first few minutes of the quarter. As always, McRae was there to put his stamp on the Union offense.
The American guard scored a key basket to cut the score to three (76-73), but Melson responded on the next possession with a big shot to tie the score to six (79-73) with 1:05 to go . Jordan McRae hit two free throws and drove to the basket (79-77). Bartolo responded from the line with 2/2, then Randle scored 1/2 shots and Kuzminskas won the foul with an offensive rebound, but he did not capitalize. Buy’s 2/2 shot was the final point and Ludwigsburg prevailed 83-79.
