Elias Kanzouris is the new coach of AEK
The search for a coach has been completed at AEK, Ilias Kanzouris has been appointed, succeeding Kouros Segouras.
After two excellent years at Kolossos Rhodes, Elias Kanzouris joins AEK. The veteran technician, already top of the yellow-black shortlist, has agreed to take the reins and lead the effort that will be made next season.
The two sides shook hands for an initial year-long collaboration, with Ilias Kanzouris taking on the ‘building’ of next season’s squad.
Ilias Kanzouris started working as a coach in 2000 after working as an assistant at Aris, AEK, Panhellinios, Zalgiris, Unics Kazan and Bamberg, among others. He was also a member of the technical staff of the men’s national team under Andrea Trinchieri (EuroBasket 2013).
In the summer of 2020 he took over Kolossos, which he led to 3rd place in the regular season last year. This will be his third stint at AEK, after previous stints as an assistant in 2007 and 2018-’19 (he worked alongside Lukas Banki).
