Reneses, the schoolhouse of the Endesa League
Aside from setting the record for most games in Spanish basketball’s first division, Aito Reneses will be the oldest coach on the team’s bench from the evening.
From day to day the Aito Renese keep making history. Whether he wins or loses doesn’t matter. It is important that the Madrid coach left an indelible mark, he was a separate chapter.
The mere fact that he is the coach with the most matches in the first division of Spanish basketball automatically makes him unique. He has coached his seven different teams in 1077 games.
From Wednesday evening (28.9.) Renese will be the eldest of them all. To date, the record has been held by Swetislav Pesic since his last stint at Barcelona.
The 75 years, 9 months and 8 days old Aito will now leave him behind. The bench veteran will guide newly promoted Girona at home to Real Madrid and his return to ACB after his spell in Germany will be accompanied by another iconic performance.
During his domestic career, Reneses has won 9 championships, 5 cups, 2 korats, 1 cup winner, a ULEB cup and 1 FIBA EuroCup. On top of that he has an Olympic silver medal (2008) and trophies with Alba on his chest.
