Sarunas Jasikevicius compared Barcelona’s players to peacocks, while Tomas Satoranski admitted he didn’t work properly in the final against Zalgiris.

Barcelona succumbed to Zalgiris in a defeat that was likely off schedule (sic) for Sarunas Jasikevicius’ side. For that reason alone, the 46-year-old coach was quite irritated by both the performance and behavior of his players.

Why might he have first said that “I have to take responsibility for the loss” but then explained that “We lost because we underestimated the opponent, we came onto the field like … peacocks. It’s obvious that as a coaching team we haven’t done our job well to convey to the players that Zalgiris is different this year“.

Also of great interest was what Tomas Satoranski said when asked what was said some time ago by Nick Calathes about bondage in the days of Sarunas Jasikevicius: “I’ve only been here a month and I’m still trying to get used to it. We talked a lot anyway and I can say that I don’t feel any bondage on the floor. He just wants me to be more aggressive in my game, it’s nice to hear he’s giving you advice as he’s played in the same position“.

Referring to the fact that the ball was in his hands in the last possession, he said:Of course I had to shoot! It’s hard, it happened in a split second. I felt Edgars Ulanovas running towards me (closing), he made a great save. But it was clear that I had to shoot“.
