Real Madrid: The first scenarios for a change in technical leadership
The Zaragoza defeat has raised serious concerns at Real Madrid, with a Spanish publication raising the question of a managerial change for the first time. Two (already) candidates to succeed Chus Mateo.
Real Madrid’s start this season doesn’t fit their budget. With three losses in six games in the EuroLeague and a further two in seven games in the Liga Endesa, the ‘Queen’ is not exactly dominant in the two main competitions in which they compete.
Somehow, Monday 7 November saw the first publication of thoughts of a change on the bench – a day after the surprising defeat by Zaragoza. In particular, “Relevo” reports that trust in Chus Mateo’s person is not exactly a matter of course. Pablo Lasso’s “shadow” and the way the “promotion” of the 53-year-old technician was carried out significantly increases the pressure and responsibility on him, which is why the first publication related to his future appeared in the first month of this year’s season .
The same publication even names the first two (main) candidates: Andrea Trinchieri from Bayern Munich and Saša Djordjevic.
For the former it is obvious that things are not easy as in the middle there is the contract that ‘ties’ him to the German club. However, there are no such restrictions for the latter once it has been on the market since the summer.
‘Relevo’ doesn’t elaborate on the chances of an immediate coaching change at Real Madrid but it seems Chu’s Mateo shouldn’t be so sure of his position now.
