Casimiro dripped honey for Rogavopoulos and… medicine for the Greek championship

Luis Casimiro’s experience at Prometheus Patras did not leave him with the best impressions of the Greek league. However, the Spain coach spoke very kind words about Nikos Rogavopoulos, whose name has been linked with Baskonia.

Luis Casimiro worked just a few months with Nikos Rogavopoulos in the 2021/22 season when he was on the Prometheus Patras bench, but it seems he is particularly appreciative of the young Greek’s potential.

Speaking to website noticiasdealava following reports of Baskonia’s interest in Rogavopoulos, the Spanish coach stressed that the 21-year-old defender-forward was ready to play in the Spanish league and revealed that he had tried to get him sign with him to Real Betis. At the same time, the experienced coach naturally denied what he had experienced in his short time in the Basket League.

I would highlight his youth, willingness to learn and ambition. He is an essential player with great scoring and rebounding skills. He doesn’t read the game very well because he’s young, but he has a very strong will to learn, he’s like a sponge. If you tell him something, he will do anything to implement it. We wanted to sign him at Betis but couldn’t find him financially. He has the ability to compete in Spain.

Baskonia is a demanding team, so of course they have to improve. He played very well with me and was one of the best players in the EuroCup. The veterans in Greece trample on anyone who gets in their way, even the coach, regardless of whether you’re second in the league and having a great run. Of the six Greeks playing in the league, three or four are very old and two are young. Nikos was one of the youngest and was a special project.

It seems to me that Baskonia has searched the market to get a very good player at a good price. He is ideal with his character and has the ambition to take the next step to a good level.

There are three, but also two. Can he play at four? Yes, perhaps. The guy is tall, has good arm span, good rebound and has a very good long shot like all modern 4’s today. He can play there but I would say he’s a threesome.

He is a very kind and emotional child. It does what you tell it and gives you what you need. From what I’ve seen, Greece is far behind us in terms of work ethic, technical training, attitude and philosophy (S.Spain). Apart from Olympiakos and Panathinaikos, the other teams are not as strict as we are here in our league.” Casimiro in detail.
