Badalona complains about refereeing at Real: “Tavares didn’t commit a foul in 80 minutes”
Badalona coach Carles Duran slammed the referees after the Catalans’ defeat by Real in the second game of the semi-finals, noting that Eddie Tavares has never been charged with a foul in this series.
Real defeated Badalona 90-73 in the second game of the semi-finals in Madrid, equalizing the series 1-1, allowing the team to travel to the Catalans’ homeland for the next two games. But the game also had… a third part where Carles Duran openly argued with the referee.
The Badalona coach commented on the only technical penalty Ante Tomic received while stressing that Eddie Tavares has not yet been charged with a foul.
“We are very upset with the referees’ decisions towards the end of the game and we need to learn from that.” Duran first explained, adding: “It’s obvious we don’t have the same respect as Real. I hope we change that in the next game. It’s important to remember that we’re not just playing Real Madrid, we’re in the semi-finals of the league.
Concluding his remarks, Duran affirmed simply: “One of our key players, Ante Tomic, was charged with an unsportsmanlike foul and a technical penalty for protesting when it was clear he had previously been fouled. We didn’t get the respect Real have in those two games. It annoys me that Tomic had to leave the game but Tavares didn’t commit a foul in 80 minutes.
