Laporta on Mirotic: “We are far apart financially, we will see how we solve the problem”
With his statements, Juan Laporta admitted that Barcelona still haven’t found the golden ratio for the termination of Nikola Mirotic’s contract, adding that he hopes there will be a development soon.
Barcelona want to get rid of Nikola Mirotic’s huge contract. However, this has not happened for the time being, as the former NBA player is demanding the entire departure of the next two years (22 million euros gross). But Juan Laporta hopes that a solution will be found. Even if the two sides are currently far apart.
This was underlined by the Barcelona president in his statements to La Vanguardia when the discussion turned to Nikola Mirotic – who is Olympiakos’ first target for Anti-Vezenkov – stating: “We believe that the team can be competitive even without a budget of 40 million euros. “At the moment we are very far apart financially with Mirotic, but we will see how we can resolve the matter.”
Finally, Laporta also referred to the departure of Sarunas Jasikevicius, stressing: “Saras was the highest paid coach in Europe. When we started negotiations, we realized that we couldn’t go on together.”
