Willy Hernangomet sees Real not agreeing on a new contract with Tavares

According to a report from Marca, Real’s talks with Tavares are frozen over a contract extension beyond 2024 with the Blazers monitoring the case. Madrid also look to Willy Hernangomet.

Negotiations between Real and Willy Tavares over a contract extension (which expires in 2024) have stalled. And according to Marca, there won’t be an immediate solution as the lousy midfielder is targeting a contract with a net annual salary of €3m and Madrid aren’t ready to match that number.

All of this has the effect of rekindling the Blazers’ interest in the animal heart. But things aren’t easy, since the center from Cape Verde has a buyout of 6 million euros and according to the regulations, an NBA team is not allowed to give more than 750,000 dollars. But there’s always the scenario that Tavares himself pays that amount out of pocket to go to the NBA.

At the same time, Real are obliged to weigh their options. Somehow, Willy Hernangomet’s name popped up again in the Madrid report in a case more likely to continue if Tavares leaves.

As a reminder, Tavares is currently paid €3.5m gross (pp. before taxes), i.e. 1.85 million euros net, with Real wanting to achieve up to 5 million euros gross, i.e. around 2.8 million euros net.
