Real Madrid: ‘window’ for Hertel – Tombkins return to team
Thomas Hertel and Trey Tombkins have been out of the team for ten days following a decision by Pablo Lasso, but at Real Madrid they leave an open window for both to return to rotation in the near future.
Real Madrid remain in crisis in recent weeks, despite the signs of reaction they showed in the game against Barcelona on Sunday April 10. The EuroLeague regular season ended with the Queen losing eight in ten games, with the negative climate and disciplinary offenses prompting Pablo Lasso’s decision to rule out Thomas Hertel and Trey Tombkins.
Both have been training individually for the past few days, with the Real Madrid coach declaring on the eve of the derby with the Blaugrana that “this is my final decision”.
In the days that followed, the situation relaxed significantly, according to information from Sportish, those responsible for the Spanish team acted as pacifists (sic) to lower the tones and find a compromise solution. That is, the one that would bring the two penalized players back into the larger team context, whenever Pablo Lasso’s approval was given.
Of course, the task they set themselves is not easy, as the experienced technician stated in every tone from the very beginning that his decision was final. After all, these were questions of a disciplinary nature and not of a competitive nature.
Finally, however, something seems to be changing at Real Madrid, which faces Maccabi Tel Aviv before the decisive EuroLeague games of the season (ss: the “Queen” has home advantage). Whether Pablo Lasso will pour enough water into his wine for Tomas Hertel and Trey Tombkins to return to everyday life at Real Madrid is still unknown – currently it’s impossible to see them in Game 1 and Game 2 of the playoffs.
For now, however, it appears that the immediate exit of both from the WiZink Center has lost significant ground.
