According to Spanish media, Ivanovic is a candidate to succeed Penaroja in Baskonia
Juan Penaroja has been under pressure in Baskonia for a few days. Spanish media report that his possible replacement is – until a few hours ago – Red Star coach Dusko Ivanovic, who has already completed three (!) stops with the Basques.
Dusko Ivanovic was released by Red Star yesterday (October 21st) and replaced by Yannis Sfairopoulos. A day later, reports already link him to the Baskonia Bank!
Amid the EuroLeague coaching debacle, Juan Penaroja is said to be under pressure at the Basques due to the team’s poor start. And Ivanovic – who has been on the Baskonia bench three times in the past – is widely seen as the favorite to replace him if Penaroja is eventually sacked.
Historically, Ivanovic sat on the Baskonia bench from 2000 to 2005, 2008 to 2012 and 2019 to 2021 and won a championship with the Basques in each of his terms (2002, 2010 and 2020).
