The three reasons why Barcelona want to oust Kalathis

Mundo Deportivo on the one hand confirm Barcelona’s decision to end their collaboration with Nick Kalathis and on the other hand explain the reasons that led to it.

THE Nick Kalathis was informed by Barcelona that it will not be counted for next season and this is information no longer disputed by anyone.

Mundo Deportivo delayed the playback of the news, but gradually “met” the topic on the main page of its online version, presenting all the parameters from its own page. But mainly the one that affects the Catalan team.

According to the report signed by Jose Ignacio Hughet, the Blaugrana administration first approached the agent of 33-year-old Greek exile Panagiotis Kapazoglou and informed him of their intention to find a formula to end the contract binding the two parties.

Since Kalathis has committed itself to a closed three-year period that expires in summer 2023, the procedures will of course be quite time-consuming and the negotiations tough. The EuroLeague top passer and his representative won’t agree without prior consent as this is a unilateral decision by the Catalans and not an amicable divorce.

Also, the journalist, who is deeply involved in Barcelona issues, lists the three reasons why the decision to release Kalathis was made.

The first concerns race contribution by Kalathis. According to Blaugrana, the veteran playmaker is “did not fully meet the expectations set by the team“.

The second is related to that with his contract. Kalathis is”one of the highest paid players in Barcelona“and management is poised to cut costs as much as possible.

The third and last is directly dependent on Addition by Thomas Satoranski. The Czech has already agreed to return to Spain and Saronas Jasikevicius has named him the team’s main point guard and handed him the keys.

It was no coincidence that the two had dinner together three weeks ago. If Satoranski comes into play for 30 minutes, Kalathis definitely has more. Because he’s not a 10-15 minute player.
