Real Madrid unethical decision to lasso, fans ask Perez to intervene
Real cited medical reasons for Pablo Lasso’s ouster, Marca revealed a bitter truth and the unethical role of GM Juan Carlos Sanchez, while Real Madrid fans demand Florentino Perez’s intervention.
If what Marca revealed in their online edition immediately after Real Madrid announced that Pablo Lasso will not be able to coach the team due to health reasons is true, then we are talking about an unprecedented, immoral and scandalous decision that may be the top Coach has fallen victim to Europe.
According to the Spanish newspaper and journalist Jesus Sanchez, it is basically a collusion on Lasso’s back with the protagonist of Madrid basketball manager Juan Carlos Sanchez. If his name means anything to you, we recently mentioned him in the latest EuroLeague developments report, where Real starred in the role of Jordi Bertomeu’s lawyer!
Real Madrid cite medical reports on Lasso’s condition and whether or not he can continue training just days after team doctor Miguel Angel Lopez was sacked after refusing to sign a report saying the Basque manager should be forced to retire to go home!
Lasso had since returned to almost normal rhythms after suffering a heart attack. He was preparing for the annual summer camp and thinking about the start of the new season, his last at Real under his contract.
Real’s management disagreed. And as Marka notes, Lasso, a Madrid legend, leaves in the most inglorious way after 11 years, 22 titles and 659 wins in 860 games.
It was Carlos Sanchez who, along with Alberto Herreros, had opted for Lasso in 2011 when Yasmin Repesa, who had visited Real’s facilities, said no to the proposal.
In theory, he was friends with the coach, who was born in Vitoria in 1967. However, not for long. Can Lassos Real win the league for the first time in 2013 after five years under Xavi Pascual’s rule in Barcelona (and Baskonia) and at the end of 2013 in their first Euroleague final in 18 years (in London, when they lost to Olympiakos ) play -14 season Barcelona’s return to the ACB throne had activated reflexes of a different kind.
In an unprecedented move, Real Lassos management had sacked the entire workforce, leaving the head coach naked, with an Achilles tendon problem (he had undergone surgery) and his uncertain future. The team seemed to lose a lot of steam when Nikola Mirotic decided to move to the NBA.
It is even said and confirmed by Marca in their report that Sanchez then contacted Fotis Katsikaris but who was tied to his contract with EEC and Greece national team until September and the end of the World Cup.
The death of Alfredo Di Stefano in July 2014 overshadowed everything in the Real camp, leaving Lasso on the team bench. Result: 2 Euroleagues, five championships, 4 cups, 6 super cups and one intercontinental cup.
Cold War and the Ertel Affair
Lasso did his job but often faced the cold war of management, mainly Sanchez making decisions (and players) with a different opinion of the team manager.
They say Lasso wanted neither Nicolas Laprovitola nor Tomas Ertel, much more Mario Hezonia, who is expected to be announced by the “Queen” in the next few days!
The Ertel case was finally the reason for Sanchez to strike again against Lasso. Real’s manager had put the French guard in the fridge, as had Trey Tompkins, who had been “arrested” for staying up late at an Athens club, while Real played the next day at OAKA against Panathinaikos, of whom, in fact, , lost know!
After William Goss suffered a serious injury early in the semi-final against Barcelona, Lasso had to rely on Ertel, according to Real management. “If he played we would beat Efes,” say the Madrid players, ignoring the truth. Real without the idiosyncratic Frenchman in the squad recorded 18 wins and only 3 defeats and eventually won the league with a home handicap against Barcelona.
Marca writes features: “If you want, watch the video and photos of the celebrations in the Wizink Arena. If you can find even one scene where Pablo and Juan Carlos congratulate each other, that’s a miracle. You won’t find it because there was no such thing wait a minute!
Lasso and Sanchez, they just subtly avoided each other.
The doctor is a victim
Real have now signed Pablo Lasso’s direct collaborator, Chus Mateo, who will take over as head coach from the start of next season. However, the immorality of the Madrid players in invoking medical reasons for ’emptying’ the lasso is unprecedented.
A side loss in recent years has been Real’s doctor Miguel Angel Lopez, who refused to sign Lasso’s medical discharge and said Lasso could ideally return to full training at the end of August.
Sanchez had to invent force majeure to achieve his goal, which he did by issuing the almost devastating announcement that ended the career of a very great coach.
The people in the team reacted very badly. On different sides, Real fans are venting their anger and calling on Florentino Perez to take a stand and correct the big mistake. In the case of an AS gallop, 70% of respondents disagree with the practice of real management. In its editorial, ‘AS’ points out that contrary to the club’s claims, Pablo Lasso claims his doctors have never forbidden him to return to the stands.
The newspaper notes that the manager’s strained relations with the team’s management are being laid bare and certainly “a character like Lasso deserves a legendary farewell” and apparently not what Real decided.
The next few days are awaited with great interest as Lasso is not just a coach but a Real Madrid legend compared to holy monsters like Pedro Ferradit and Lolo Saint!
Unfortunately for Juan Carlos Sanchez, he’s also…alive (legend)!
