Chus Mateo succeeds Pablo Lasso in Real Madrid’s technical leadership
Real Madrid have confirmed Chus Mateo’s promotion to head coach, with the 53-year-old replacing Pablo Lasso. The agreement signed between the two sides is two years old.
Within less than 24 hours of the announcement of Pablo Lasso’s ‘divorce’, Real Madrid announced his successor. This has been his direct partner Chus Matteo for eight years, who accepted the invitation from the “Queen” and signed a cooperation agreement for two years (until summer 2024).
The 53-year-old replaced Pablo Lasso in the Endesa Liga final and helped lift the title at Barcelona’s expense. This won’t be the first time he’s been benched, having previously also managed Unicaja Malaga, Fuenlabrada in Spain.
By the way, Real Madrid’s announcement says that the “divorce” with Pablo Lasso will be by mutual consent.
